TITLE: Teacher - Primary 3-6 Lead Guide
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Montessori Early Childhood Teacher is a guide who helps direct his/her students’ activities
academically, emotionally, and physically for the 3-6 Montessori classroom. This is done in a Montessori
environment that challenges each child to reach his/her full potential as they make learning connections
using higher level thinking to problem solve and make sense of the world around them, in accordance
with Montessori philosophy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Montessori Primary 3-6 teaching credential from an AMS, NCME, AMI teacher education
program, or a MACTE-accredited course for the age level of the program
2. Arizona Early Childhood certification
3. Experience with three to five (3-5) year old children
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not
a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct appropriate academic screening and ongoing observational assessments.
- Maintain accurate records for documentation of student progress.
- Maintain compliance with all DHS licensing regulations and accreditation criteria.
- Develop lessons and manage the learning experiences for students to ensure the needs of the
groups and individual students are met.
- Maintain a safe, neat, and well-organized environment consistent with Montessori pedagogy.
- Work to develop close and effective relationships with parents, including opportunities to discuss
and understand the child’s individual progress and encourage them to bond with the class and
the larger school community.
- Provide individual tracking of student progress.
- Plan, conduct and/or participate in professional development.
- Direct activities of instructional assistants.
- Provide performance evaluation input regarding instructional assistant(s) to school administrator.
- Attend all necessary training and department meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
