TITLE: Director of Facilities Management For Learners


Overall responsibility of the District’s facilities and grounds to ensure that they are in good working
condition, are safe for students, staff and community, and are conducive to the educational process.


1. Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Construction Administration, Engineering or related
field (preferred)
2. Minimum of five (5) years in administration in the areas of physical plant facilities management
(custodial, maintenance, renovation and construction, and warehouse/inventory control)
3. Experience in new construction, renovation, building design, contract negotiations and project
4. Excellent communication skills

- Oversee the Facilities Management department including building maintenance and repair,
construction and renovation, energy management, preventative maintenance, and warehousing.
- Supervise, hire, evaluate and train those employees who report to facilities management
including project managers, department managers, skilled tradesmen, custodians, and
warehouse workers.
- Establish department goals, policies, and programs consistent with meeting the District’s goals.
- Monitor and evaluate department performance and inspect all school buildings, grounds and
installations on a regular basis to ensure safety, compliance, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain and monitor the capital, bond and operational budgets related to construction and
facilities. Assist in the preparation of budget for bond and capital projects. Oversee custodial
budgets and purchases.
- Oversee the energy management program and implement energy-efficient programs and
processes. Engage in sustainability practices and incorporate into the design of District facilities.
- Oversee the operation of the district warehousing function including receiving, distribution, and
inventory control. Responsible for the stewardship of general fixed assets and performing of
regular physical inventories.
- Responsible for filing all AZ School Facilities Board (SFB) reports, submitting District information
to the SFB, serving as the liaison to the SFB, requesting SFB grant funds, and filing Adjacent
Ways use requests.
- Administer federal, state, county and city mandated AHERA, OSHA, and NESHAP programs.
- Assure compliance with all mandated regulations for buildings, zoning and safety codes
applicable to district facilities and file any legal reports or compliance documents as required or
warranted. Serve as the District IAQ Coordinator. - Communicate with school site administrators, staff, parents and community members regarding
planned maintenance, construction and renovation projects, safety and security and any other
facilities or grounds related issues.
- Attend Governing Board meetings and study sessions as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $85,000 to $100,000 annually

WORK YEAR: 12 months

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Business and Support Services

EVALUATION: Administrative Evaluation

SUPERVISES: Executive Administrative Assistant, Energy Education Coordinator, Warehouse/Custodial
Supervisor, Facilities Management Supervisor, Bond Project Manager
