TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
TITLE: Gifted Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To develop, coordinate and implement the district’s Gifted program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Arizona Teacher Certification, endorsement in Gifted Education
2. Arizona Supervisory Certification (preferred)
3. Master Degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
4. Minimum three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience (Gifted experience)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not
a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate and implement the district’s Gifted program.
- Provide leadership in the area of in-service and staff development education for Gifted staff.
- Participate on interview committees to screen, interview, and select Gifted teaching staff.
- Assist principals, specialists and teachers with the Gifted programs.
- Monitor and evaluate the Gifted programs and materials.
- Oversee test administration and scoring, analyze data, and place students in the gifted program.
- Monitor and prepare budgets related to the state Gifted grant, and review the needs and prepare
purchase orders for materials.
- Represent the Gifted program at district meetings, and serve as technical resource specialist to
the principals regarding the program.
- Facilitate the adoption and development of the district’s Gifted curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
DEPARTMENT: Student Success Enterprise
SALARY: $69,100 - $83,200
WORK YEAR: 12 Month Administrative
REPORTS TO: Director
EVALUATION: Administrative Evaluation
SUPERVISES: Classified staff as assigned
