TITLE: Computer Lab Assistant


Assist, monitor, and instruct students under the supervision of the classroom teacher on a variety of
computer software and peripherals in the computer lab; maintain operation of hardware and complete
software updates.


1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. AA degree, or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the
ParaPro Assessment (preferred)
3. One (1) year of computer help desk or computer troubleshooting experience (preferred)
4. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act,

- Maintain physical condition of the computer lab, computers, and accessories including running
regular updates.
- Assist students with learning computers skills.
- Prepare computer lab for classes based on lesson plans prepared by teachers.
- Communicate with teachers regarding changes in computer lab/mobile cart schedule that may
affect availability of requested programs.
- Troubleshoot problems on individual computers, perform minor repairs and call for repair if
necessary; follow up on repair requests and status.
- Provide information to teachers regarding operation of lab computer hardware and programs.
- Communicate and report to the IT Department regarding websites providing inappropriate materials
or content.
- Administer computer based assessments, create test sessions, and set up testing computers as

Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, talking, hearing, and
eyestrain, with repetitive motions through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software.
Position may require lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying furniture, equipment and supplies weighing up to
25 pounds infrequently.
Mentally challenging utilizing a high degree of independent judgement and complex problem solving
