TITLE: Chief Financial Officer


Oversee and organize the finance and support departments to meet the goals of the District. Manage the
financial position of the District to achieve financial stability and long-term fiscal sustainability. Make
strategic decisions and recommendations that support the District’s vision. Ensure that all available
resources are attained and used effectively, efficiently and in accordance with applicable policies, rules
and regulations.


1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (required)
2. Master’s Degree or CPA (preferred)
3. Minimum of five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in business management
and/or school support operations
4. Skill in effective decision making and problem-solving.
5. Ability to communicate effectively and establish professional relationships with District
stakeholders and community leaders.
6. Ability to successfully implement organizational change.

- Oversee the finance, transportation and safety, facilities management, school support and
systems and nutrition operations of the District.
- Assist the Superintendent and Governing Board in strategic planning regarding finances, facilities
and support operations.
- Prepare a wide variety of materials (e.g. annual financial report, proposed budget, financial
statements, reports for the Governing Board, Superintendent, department administrators, etc.) for
the purpose of planning district operations and communicating the plan to staff, community and
Board members.
- Analyze a variety of financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support,
making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and ensuring overall operations are effective
and efficient.
- Prepare and oversee the District budget including forecasting, development, reporting and

- Manage and coordinate the sale of bonds and all reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. principals, directors, teachers,
City of Tempe, neighboring school districts, community organizations, etc.) to coordinate efforts to
provide valuable resources, services and opportunities for our schools.
- Serve as a member and/or resource on the Interest Based Negotiations team. - Oversee all financial aspects of providing employee benefits including the Tempe Group
Insurance Fund.
- Work collaboratively with the Human Resources department to procure, coordinate and
offer health benefits to District employees.
- Participate on the Tri-District 403b/457 investment committee, serve as the District Plan
Administrator and coordinate 403b/457 vendor contracts and services.
- Manage short-term and long-term leases, Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) and various
procurement contracts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.


SALARY: $100,000 to $120,000

WORK YEAR: 12 month Administrative
