TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE: Applications Support Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide software application support for student and business applications to enable Tempe School
District No.3 to meet district goals which include exceptional achievement for all students, responsible
stewardship of resources and commitment to achieving excellence.

Provide support of all hosted student and business applications and act as the primary resource for
school and district staff for assistance in the implementation, setup and utilization of application software
and software access. Perform routine tasks in an independent manner with minimal supervision from
department management and senior staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. Post-graduate class work from an accredited college or trade/vocational school in technology
related studies and/or equivalent working experience in a K-12 school district in Arizona
3. One(1) to two (2) years previous experience with equivalent computer systems (desirable)
4. Valid AZ Driver's License (required)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support school and district staff in the daily operational utilization of applications and software.
- Assist in the implementation and configuration of application software.
- Identify and define training requirements for installed applications and software; create training
templates in cooperation with application vendors.
- Responsible for data management, data integration and data interpretation.
- Responsible for obtaining reports, consolidating data and submissions to outside agencies.
- Test and assist in implementing upgrades related to the student, business, human resource or
nutrition services management software.
- Develop and maintain new and existing documentation, including a problem resolution log to
identify trends and recommend solutions.
- Provide prompt, professional support in solving problems and providing solutions to District staff
by telephone, field/site visits, e-mail and other means as requested and as scheduled.
- Maintain current technical knowledge and expertise on specific technology systems or on a
technology platform through research, personal use, trade, vendor information and training.
- Exercise good judgment in working independently and/or in conjunction with other staff members

- Contribute to the analysis, evaluation and development of software and application systems.
- Provide training to end users as needed.
- Take initiative to learn new computer applications and systems.
- Document all project work.
- Attend meetings and participate on committees as assigned.
- Provide support to the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

Knowledge of District, Federal and State rules and regulations governing school operations and software
applications
Skill in utilizing effective verbal or written communication in the performance of all written and oral
communications with end users and other customers
Skill and specialized knowledge in computer applications and systems
Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries, requests and complaints
Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Skill and expertise in the use of standard office software

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Fast paced environment with multiple deadlines.
Working with or near noisy and potentially dangerous power equipment, and electrical wiring.
Working in rooms with the temperature maintained at or below 70 degrees.
May drive to multiple work sites.
May work varied hours, may rotate shifts.
May be required to telecommute in addition to working on-site.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

May lift, move, push or carry materials, equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or more.
Generally performs work in a seated position with repetitive motion and eyestrain through extensive
utilization of computer hardware and software.
May work in confined spaces.
May be exposed to loud noises.
