TITLE: Account Specialist - Teaching & Learning


Implement and maintain accurate and efficient computerized accounting of Professional Development
Catalog Courses, Site Based Training and other Districtwide curriculum.


1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. Two (2) years of accounting experience, preferably in a school environment
3. State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
4. Completion of District administered skills tests
5. May require a valid Arizona Driver's License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act,

- Maintain accurate accounting by allocating, posting and preparing a variety of financial reports.
- Allocate, post and prepare purchase requisitions for budget compliance.
- Monitor department and capital budget expenditures, create reports and recordkeeping tasks.
- Attend meetings and participate on committees that have a direct impact on decision making at
the district level.
- Manage and provide technical support for District’s professional development system.
- Provide support in the management and organization of District events, programs and initiatives.
- Ensure exceptional customer service.
- Assist parents in request to view District adopted curriculum and materials.
- Work with coordinators to manage and distribute curriculum.
- Maintain accurate inventories of curriculum and materials.
- May perform highly confidential support activities requiring independent operational decision-
- Perform other duties as assigned.


- Knowledge of District policies and procedures, Federal and State rules and regulations,
Governing Board and school operations
- Knowledge of basic accounting methods, file maintenance and recordkeeping practices and
- Knowledge of customer service and public relations practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive Applications
- Skill in researching information databases, computer databases applications and software
- Skill in implementing policies and procedures related to area of assignment
- Skill in accurately inputting and retrieving information from computer databases
- Skill in utilizing verbal and written communication skills in the development of reports and records - Skill in communication and utilizing customer service and public relations techniques when
responding to inquiries, complaints and interactions with staff and community.

- Skill in, but not limited to:
o Email
o Word Processing
o Spreadsheets
o Databases
o Presentation Software
o Accounting and basic math
o Use of standard office equipment


Fast paced general office environment with extensive student and public contact


Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, talking, listening,
eyestrain, and repetitive motions.
Position may require lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying supplies and materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites.
