TITLE: Account Specialist Senior - Nutrition Services Purchasing/Inventory


Manage and maintain an accurate and efficient computerized accounting and inventory system to ensure
compliance with State and Federal mandates for the Nutrition Services Department.


1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED.
2. Three (3) years of accounting and purchasing experience; preferred experience in a food service
3. State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
4. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
5. Valid Arizona Driver’s License with good driving record for past five (5) years

- Process all Nutrition Services related invoices.
- Manage billing for internal and external services provided by the department.
- Work with Director and Supervisor to prepare and conduct appropriate procurement based on
federal and state regulations for bids and quotes; prepare procurement documents, including
specifications for supplies, produce, food, and equipment purchases; coordinate with finance
department as needed.
- Input purchase orders and online orders for food and supplies.
- Input and maintain accuracy of food and supply inventory in software database; ensure pricing is
accurate and current.
- Track equipment repair calls and input TMA; provide status to managers and supervisors.
- Manage property control and equipment inventory.
- Manage annual Maricopa County Environmental Services kitchen operating permits; track school
site inspections.
- Conducts school site visits for equipment oversight.
- Ensure good working relationships with vendors, office staff, school site managers, and all other
district departments and the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.


- Knowledge of federal and state procurement regulations
- Knowledge of maintenance of WebSMARTT computer hardware, software and peripherals
- Knowledge of Federal, State and District reporting requirements related to area of assignment
- Knowledge of accounting methods, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of inventory control tracking and maintenance practices
- Knowledge of recordkeeping/file maintenance practices and procedures
- Knowledge of customer service/public relations practices and procedures
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures - Skill organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, and reviewing work
- Skill accurately and timely processing bids, quotes, orders and requisitions
- Skill utilizing automated systems to maintain databases and generate reports
Skill utilizing effective verbal and written communication in the preparation of reports and
- Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints
- Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Work at multiple sites monitoring equipment inventory and maintenance requests.


Repetitive motion and eye strain through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software.
May require lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, talking, listening and
repetitive motion.
