TITLE: Account Specialist Senior - Funded Programs

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Implement and maintain for the District an accurate and efficient computerized accounting system to
ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates as related to funded programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. Three (3) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferably in a school environment
3. State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
4. May require a valid Driver's License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Assist schools and departments with maintaining and tracking grants, and special funds.
? Process budgets; review and process purchase requisitions, travel reimbursement requests,
Requests for Added Service and Requests for Personnel Action.
? Process payments; send and track monthly balances.
? Maintain the chart of accounts; posting and preparing reports required under State and Federal
grant for funding requirements for grants and special funds.
? Prepare and process journal entry submittals.
? Review all special fund revenues and expenditures to ensure accuracy, completeness and
correctness of fund cash balances.
? Perform reconciliations of grants and special fund balances.
? Provide assistance and run reports for schools and departments.
? Provide accounting support to schools.
? Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

? Knowledge of Federal, State and District accounting and reporting requirements for assigned
area
? Knowledge of accounting methods practices and procedures
? Knowledge of record keeping/file maintenance practices and procedures
? Knowledge of customer service/public relations practices and procedures
? Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive Applications
? Skill prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and reviewing work
? Skill solving problems independently
? Skill utilizing automated systems to maintain databases and generate reports
? Skill accurately inputting and retrieving information from computer databases
? Skill utilizing effective verbal and written communication in the preparation of reports and records
? Skill implementing policies and procedures related to area of assignment
? Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints
? Skill establishing and maintain effective working relationships ? Skill in, but not limited to:
o Email
o Word Processing
o Spreadsheets
o Databases
o Presentation Software
o Accounting and basic math
o Use of standard office equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General Office environment
May need to drive to other sites to complete work assignments

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, keyboarding, talking, listening, eyestrain and
repetitive motions
May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites
May require lifting and carrying materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
