TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE: Director of School Improvement

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide leadership and direction for the district’s strategic initiatives, communicate the district’s vision
and strengths to internal and external stakeholders, and serve as the point-person for transformational
initiatives. To collect, analyze and use multiple sources of data; including research related to the design
and implementation of new school models. To guide continuous improvement of schools and work with
schools identified as Targeted Support Improvement Schools (TSI).

To serve as a support administrator for schools regarding monitoring, data gathering, enrollment, facility
use, training, budget management and improvement planning for state and federally funded programs
and related budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Arizona Administrative Certification
2. Three (3) years school or district experience
3. Knowledge and experience in managing grant funded programs and related budgets
4. Demonstrated leadership qualities
5. Excellent writing and editing skills with experience writing in a variety of formats and styles for
multiple audiences and platforms
6. Ability to work effectively as a team member with district and school personnel at all levels
7. Strong attention to detail with organization skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide assistance to principals and teachers in the areas of grant funded programs goal setting,
budget monitoring, use of resources, data analysis, and academic improvement planning
- Creates efficient processes to implement and communicate strategic plan
- Leads initiatives aligned to the goals of the District as determined by the Governing Board and
Superintendent to increase student learning and achievement
- Provide direct support and guidance to principals to improve the academic culture and conditions
of schools to dramatically increase student achievement and teacher practice
- Build capacity among school leaders and their leadership teams to develop effective school plans
focused on high impact strategies, including teacher development, personalized learning, and
collaborative data driven learning communities
- Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff
- Monitor school progress (including fidelity in implementation, results, and projected budgets) to
promote heightened accountability for TSI schools; determine implementation milestones and academic benchmarks, creating clear performance indicators for internal departments of
Teaching and Learning and Special Education, as well as external partners
- Provide demographic, enrollment, free lunch and other data needed for grant funded programs.
- Assist with compliance issues, amendments and training regarding grant funded programs law
and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service to site administrators in related areas of school operation
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent

SALARY: C51

WORK YEAR: 12 Months
