TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE: Instructional Coach - Special Education - Middle School

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Coordinate the implementation of special education programs with the maximum consideration of
inclusion and least restrictive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Arizona Special Education Teacher certification
2. Master Degree in Special Education (preferred)
3. At least five (5) years of successful experience with special education students
4. Knowledge of district special education programs
5. Knowledge of all areas of exceptionality, including gifted and preschool (preferred)
6. Broad knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply special education laws, procedures, and
compliance standards
7. Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid, and CPR certification
8. Experience in staff professional development
9. Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conduct staff training and professional development for general education and special education
staff.
- Provide information to Tempe Elementary School District #3 staff regarding policy and
procedures for special education students.
- Provide K-8 literacy and math support to children and teachers through supplemental groups
and/or supplemental individual instruction in the classroom.
- Assist with disaggregation and interpretation of assessment data to increase individual student
growth and achievement.
- Assist in the planning of parent involvement activities.
- Perform other duties related to the implementation of the school wide plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Student Support and Assistant Director of Student Support
