TITLE: Student Achievement Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Student achievement specialist works in conjunction with district leadership and various departments
to enhance teacher effectiveness and student achievement. The Student Achievement Specialist will
analyze student data, lead groups, provide demonstration lessons, coach, and mentor classroom
teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Standard Arizona Teacher Certification
2. Minimum five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience
3. Knowledge and understanding of content, curriculum development, professional
development, effective coaching and instructional strategies and research-based best
practices
4. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with
teachers, administrators, parents, students and community
5. Knowledge of national, state, and district standards and trends concerning instructional
methods, resources, and strategies
6. To guide to staff to effectively implement intervention and enrichment opportunities
7. Expertise in working with colleagues in areas of professional development, professional
learning communities, new teacher support, and instructional planning
8. Effective communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills; ability to
work with and motivate others
9. Experience working with site-based teams
10. Ability to plan and present information/training for the adult learner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the goals, objectives, strategies and programs of the district
- develops and/or provides professional development
- assists in the alignment of standards/curriculum with related instructional materials, strategies and
activities - Work with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities to analyze school-wide student data as
the basis for developing a school academic achievement plan, understand and interpret assessment
data to inform instructional decisions
- models direct, explicit systematic instruction including effective teaching techniques and strategies
- monitors goal setting, activities, classroom follow-up, and goal attainment for teacher individual
growth plans
- participates district-level meetings and trainings
- increases and enhances professional knowledge, skills, and expertise about effective instruction and
school improvement
- assists and supports staff in providing effective instruction and improving student achievement
- understands and interprets assessment data, both formal and informal, to inform instructional
decisions
- observes and provides peer assistance and coaching
- performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the
school
DEPARTMENT: School Leadership
SALARY: Certified, plus $10,000 addendum
WORK YEAR: Teacher Calendar
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee
EVALUATION: Teacher Evaluation
