TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
TITLE: Teacher - Preschool
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Create a program favorable to learning for three to five year-old children in a literacy-rich preschool
environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Arizona Early Childhood Education certification
2. Experience with three to five year-old children (preferred)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the
following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not
a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct appropriate academic screening and ongoing observational assessments.
- Maintain accurate records for documentation of student progress.
- Maintain compliance with all DHS licensing regulations and accreditation criteria.
- Set-up and maintain a safe, literacy rich, and engaging early childhood environment.
- Plan and set-up appropriate standards-based early learning activities for preschool children.
- Plan, conduct and/or participate in in-service activities.
- Maintain on-going communication (verbal and written) with parents of students.
- Direct activities of instructional assistants.
- Provide performance evaluation input regarding instructional assistant(s) to school administrator.
- Attend all necessary training and department meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Principal, Coordinator of Student Support, and/or Director of Student Support
