TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
TITLE: Dual Language Program- Spanish Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To create a flexible elementary program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal
growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge
needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupil’s ability; establish good relationships
with parents and with other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Arizona Elementary Teacher Certification OR Early Childhood Certification
2. Bilingual Endorsement-Spanish
3. Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
4. Training in techniques for teaching a second language (required)
5. Previous teaching experience with pupils who come from environments where the language is
other than English (preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge in the assigned academic area, utilizing course of
study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
? Instruct pupils in subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and
procedures of the school district
? Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group
instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
? Evaluate pupil’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress
reports.
? Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and
interpret the school program.
? Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and
helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
? Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin
boards and interest centers.
? Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development activities
provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
? Select and requisition instructional aids and materials; maintain required inventory records.
? Perform other duties as assigned.
