TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
TITLE: Interventionist - Title I Academic Behavior
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To facilitate on-site coordination of positive learning environment that enhances the academic and social
development of students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor Degree
2. Arizona Elementary Teacher certification
3. Minimum of three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience
4. Training or related experience with RTI, PBIS, and Social Skills training for students
5. Ability to coordinate activities with related and specialist staff
6. May be required to control certain behavior(s) through physical restraint; therefore must possess
a degree of physical strength and dexterity that exceeds the level required of general education
teachers
7. Experience analyzing student data and use of data to design instruction to maximize student
learning

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge in assigned academic area, utilizing course of study
adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate, supplemental learning activities.
- Instruct students in AZ College and Career Ready Standards Interventions.
- Analyze student data and use data to design instruction to maximize student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group
instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Evaluate student’s academic and/or social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare
progress reports.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assisting and
helping students solve learning and attitude problems.
- Implement behavior modification program with students when appropriate.
- Facilitate positive interaction between parents of student and school staff, as well as
communicate with parents about behavior management strategies.
- Provide a variety of behavior management strategies when appropriate.
- Meet individual student needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
