TITLE: Teacher on Special Assignment - DEPARTMENT: Learning and
Middle School Leadership
YEAR: Teacher Calendar SALARY: Certified


Support and assist the principal in the operation of the school.

1. Arizona Elementary Teacher certification.
2. Master degree or equivalent
3. Six (6) graduate university credit hours in administration and supervision and currently working
toward Arizona administrative certification
4. Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act,
may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is
ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by
the incumbents of this class.)

- Assist the principal in the general administration of the school.
- Assist the principal in planning, monitoring, and evaluating desegregation projects and programs.
- Supervise student conduct within the school, and oversee student disciplinary procedures,
keeping records of any disciplinary action.
- Assist the principal in coordinating and supervising transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other
support services.
- Assist the principal in preparation of requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and
supplementary teaching materials and maintain a record of receipt and inventory of such
- Assist the principal in supervising and evaluating classified staff members.
- Assist with the planning and development of orientation programs.
- Assist in creating and implementing a school-wide positive behavior intervention system.
- Assist the building’s instructional leadership team as needed and/or defined.
- Serve as part of the school’s multidisciplinary team(s).
- Assist, as needed, with various school-wide intervention team(s).
- Support teachers in designing instruction based on student and classroom assessment data.
- Disaggregate and interpret student and classroom assessment data.
- Design instructional strategies to increase growth in student achievement.
- Provide modeling and coaching to teachers on high yield, research based, and effective
instructional practices.
- Provide professional development on Arizona Content Standards to teachers and
paraprofessionals where appropriate and as assigned by the Principal.

- Serve as a member of the intervention team to design instructional plans for students who are
FFB or approaching grade level proficiency.
- Provide in-service and training for staff members.
- Attend in service programs as directed by the principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
