TITLE: Painter PAY GRADE: 48

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform skilled work involving painting interiors and exteriors of new or existing buildings, furniture, and
equipment. Perform duties in collaboration with other trades and contractors as required in order to
maintain District facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. Five (5) years of commercial painting experience
3. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act,

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting, staining, varnishing, and finishing by stripping,
sanding, grinding, patching, puttying, caulking, priming and cleaning.
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, lacquers or other protective and decorative coatings using brushes,
rollers or spray equipment.
- Install, repair and maintain drywall, wall texturing, and acoustic ceiling texturing.
- Clean graffiti from all school property.
- Clean equipment, paint mixing area, and work areas.
- Operate grinders, pressure washers, sandblasters, compressors, spray equipment, spray booths
and other small power tools and equipment.
- Erect various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders and planks to reach surfaces of work area for
painters and others.
- Maintain existing surfaces through matching and applying the appropriate products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
? Knowledge and understanding of the tools, equipment, materials and application techniques
related to the commercial painting industry.
? Knowledge of proper methods used in cleaning and caring for brushes, rollers and other painting
equipment associated to the painting trade.
? Knowledge of safety practices, procedures, and equipment
? Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, application and disposal
? Skill in the preparation, application and storage of paints, stains, and surface preparation
materials
? Skill in both verbal and written communication
? Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
? Ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license
