TITLE: Data Analyst/Research Assistant PAY GRADE: 50

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist with research and evaluation projects with an emphasis on statistical data analysis and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
2. Bachelor or graduate degree in a related field.
3. Two (2) years of statistical data analysis experience or job related experience
4. Experience with statistical methods (ANOVA, t-test, linear regression, multilevel modeling)
preferred
5. May require a valid Arizona Driver's License

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain District reporting to support schools.
- Compiles, processes and analyzes educational and demographic data.
- Fulfills data requests from schools and departments.
- Participates in District research and evaluation projects.
- Analyzes data from District and State assessments and surveys.
- Handles and protects confidential and sensitive data with integrity and in accordance with
FERPA.
- Assists in the production of written, tabular, and graphical displays for research reports and
presentations.
- Conduct statistical data analysis of student performance and demographic data.
- Prepare reports and interpret findings to various audiences.
- Collaborate with supervisor to create and maintain a student performance reporting systems that
provides useful data for instructional decision-making, program evaluation, and accountability.
- Attend trainings and seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
? Knowledge of computer software utilized in tracking and maintaining reports
? Knowledge of customer service/public relations practices and procedures
? Knowledge of recordkeeping/file management practices and procedures
? Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with common statistical software packages (e.g.,
SPSS)
? Skill accurately inputting and retrieving information from computer databases
? Skill utilizing verbal and written communication skills in the development of reports and records
? Skill implementing policies and procedures related to area of assignment

? Skill utilizing customer service/public relations techniques when responding to inquiries and
complaints
? Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
? Ability to design and conduct statistical analyses of data of various types and from multiple
sources
? Ability to communicate findings to stakeholders and assist stakeholders to use data for purposes
of accountability, program evaluation, and improvement

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast paced general office environment
May need to drive to other sites to complete work assignments

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, talking, hearing, and
eyestrain, with repetitive motions.
Repetitive motion and eye strain through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software.
Position may require lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying furniture, equipment and supplies
weighing up to 60 pounds.
May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites.
